What happens in a session
Each Cosmetic Camouflage session at Perma Glow Shanna is $200 and lasts 90 MINUTES. The appointment starts with a focused consultation to assess the area and determine a color match. Using specialized pigment, we layer carefully to blend with surrounding skin, aiming for a natural look while discussing realistic expectations and any follow-up needs.
Clients choose coverage levels and we adapt pigment density accordingly. The process emphasizes visible blending rather than complete erasure; results depend on the area and skin. Our Elmhurst location, near 74th Street and Queens Boulevard, accommodates early-morning, evening, or weekend bookings for commuters and shift workers who prefer appointments outside standard work hours.
Factors that shape results
Skin tone, scar age, scar depth and the location of discoloration all change how pigment settles and how much coverage is achievable. Older scars and flat, less textured skin typically receive better visual blending. Elmhurst's seasonal climate — humid summers, cold winters — can influence post-procedure skin condition, so aftercare and appointment timing matter for optimal settling.
Decisions about pigment density and how much to mask are a balance between immediate coverage and natural appearance; denser pigment can hide more but may look less skin-like. Many clients choose staged sessions to refine results and minimize risk of over-coverage. Touch-ups are sometimes recommended, and outcomes vary with individual healing rather than being guaranteed.
Aftercare and realistic maintenance
Aftercare focuses on protecting the pigmented area from irritation, sun exposure and harsh treatments while it settles. Clients are advised to follow the written aftercare we provide and to plan appointments around transit patterns if they travel from neighboring areas like Jackson Heights or Corona. Healing varies, and a follow-up visit may be useful to assess blending and decide on any adjustments.
Longevity depends on skin turnover, sun exposure, and the nature of the original imperfection; results will fade rather than remain permanent in appearance. Some clients schedule occasional refresh sessions based on how their skin responds; timing is individual. We do not guarantee how long coverage lasts, and decisions about refreshes should be made after seeing initial settling.
